Insights, Stories, and Tips for the Inquisitive Mind

Our Story and Mission

Our journey began in the vibrant world of creative arts, a path that has not only shaped us as artists but as leaders, educators, and advocates. Through the arts, we discovered powerful skills — creativity, communication, resilience — that transcend the studio and stage, enriching our lives in education, business, and community leadership. Inspired by our own transformation, we're dedicated to unlocking this potential in others. Our mission is to guide individuals in exploring their creative talents, developing their personal and professional skills, and empowering them to lead and inspire in all aspects of their lives.

Our ethos is simple – everyone has a story to tell, a song to sing, or a dance to share. We believe in the transformative power of the arts to enrich lives and communities. By making arts accessible to all, we aim to foster confidence, creativity, and a sense of belonging.

So, dive in! Explore, learn, and let us know if there's something specific you're curious about. We're here to help, one post at a time.

Inspire: Not Just a Poster Word

Why ‘Inspire’ Had to Be One of Our Values (even if it makes us cringe a bit)

Inspire

If you’ve seen our vlog, you’ll know that this value made us squirm a little. Inspire. It’s a big word. A bit overused, right? You see it everywhere. Inspire. Empower. Celebrate. It can feel a bit fluffy, even a bit full of itself.

But we couldn’t not include it.

Because for us at BHVA, inspire doesn't mean we think we're inspirational.

In fact, the thought of calling ourselves inspiring is enough to make us want to hide behind a curtain and never come out.

Instead, Inspire made it onto our values list for a very real, very personal reason:

We’ve only got to where we are because someone inspired us to try.

That’s it.

Someone showed us a different way. Someone gave us a nudge. Someone believed in us. Someone made us believe we could do something we’d never done before.

So now, it’s our turn to create those sparks for others.

What does inspire actually mean to us?

Inspire

It’s not about being the expert in the room.

It’s not about giving TED talks or having all the answers.

It’s about opening up space.

Space for someone to see a different path.

Space to feel a flicker of confidence.

Space to laugh, to try, to wobble, to go again.

Space to go: “Wait, what if I could…?”

A small shift, a big impact

Being inspired isn’t about grand gestures.

It’s often something tiny:

A phrase that sticks in your head.

A person who sees something in you that you didn’t.

A new way of looking at something you thought was fixed.

A moment when you surprise yourself.

Those are the moments we live for at BHVA.

Not because we cause them. But because we facilitate them.

We build the environment, ask the questions, give the nudge, and then let you take the next step.

So here's some questions for you:

  • Who’s inspired you to become who you are today?

  • When was the last time someone made you feel like something was possible?

  • What would it take for you to become that spark for someone else?

We all have the ability to create moments of inspiration - not by being perfect, but by being open, kind, curious, and human.

So why is ‘Inspire’ one of our values?

Inspire

Because it’s not about us.

It’s about every person who walks through our doors - whether they’re five or fifty-five - feeling like they could do something they never imagined.

Even if they don’t yet believe in themselves.

Even if it’s just a tiny first step.

Even if it’s just one moment of “Maybe I can.”

That’s what inspiration looks like to us.

Quiet, powerful, real.

And once it starts, it grows.
