Insights, Stories, and Tips for the Inquisitive Mind
Our journey began in the vibrant world of creative arts, a path that has not only shaped us as artists but as leaders, educators, and advocates. Through the arts, we discovered powerful skills — creativity, communication, resilience — that transcend the studio and stage, enriching our lives in education, business, and community leadership. Inspired by our own transformation, we're dedicated to unlocking this potential in others. Our mission is to guide individuals in exploring their creative talents, developing their personal and professional skills, and empowering them to lead and inspire in all aspects of their lives.
Our ethos is simple – everyone has a story to tell, a song to sing, or a dance to share. We believe in the transformative power of the arts to enrich lives and communities. By making arts accessible to all, we aim to foster confidence, creativity, and a sense of belonging.
So, dive in! Explore, learn, and let us know if there's something specific you're curious about. We're here to help, one post at a time.

Now, we know what you’re probably thinking…
“Of course BHVA would have creativity as a core value - you’re an arts organisation!"
And yes, that's true. But also ... that's NOT the reason we chose it!

People hear “creativity”, they often picture paintbrushes, theatre lights, dance shoes, maybe a singing warm-up or two.
And while all those things are wonderful (and definitely part of what we do), that’s just the surface.
To us, creativity isn’t the paint - it’s the palette.
It’s not the performance - it’s how you got there.
At BHVA, creativity is about problem-solving. It’s about thinking differently - especially when things don’t go to plan (and let’s be honest… life rarely sticks to the plan).

It’s the conversations that start with:
“Can you help my child?”
“Could this work for me?”
“Do you offer support with…?”
And instead of giving a stock answer, we ask back:
“What do you need?”
“What does your journey look like?”
“Where are you trying to get to?”
Then we create something tailored. Something personal. Something meaningful. That’s creativity.
We don’t do square pegs in round holes. We look at what actually fits—no matter the shape.
We often laugh in our team meetings at how a throwaway comment or unexpected detour sparks an idea we never could have planned for. That’s the magic of it.
True creativity isn’t just about big ideas - it’s about knowing when to change direction.
It’s the moment you realise: “This isn’t working. Let’s try something new.”

That takes:
Reflection (in the moment, not just after)
Resilience (accepting when things don’t go to plan)
Confidence (to trust your gut and pivot)
Curiosity (to try something different)
Whether we’re writing a scheme of work, supporting a young person with additional needs, coaching an adult through a confidence block, or even working on our own systems as a team - creative thinking is baked into everything we do.
Because creativity isn’t a product. It’s a mindset.
If you’re reading this thinking, “But I’m not very creative…” - we challenge that.
You are creative!
You’ve just been told creativity is only for certain people doing certain things.
At BHVA, we break that myth every single day.
Try asking yourself:
What could I do differently today?
What’s another way to look at this problem?
What if I paused and reflected mid-process, not just at the end?
And if you’re stuck - come talk to us.
We love helping people unlock creative ways of thinking, teaching, performing, leading… and just being.
All delivered to your inbox every fortnight.
