Ages 6-11

Mondays | 1:30-2:30pm

BHVA Studios, Kettering

Imagine if your child found something they couldn't wait to tell you about...

Some children come home talking about what they've learnt.

Others come home talking about how they felt.

The new move they mastered.

The music they loved.

The friend they worked alongside.

The idea they helped create.

At Primary Dance, we're not simply teaching routines.

We're helping children discover confidence through movement, creativity and self-expression in a welcoming environment where every child can contribute, explore and enjoy being themselves.

Because when children enjoy learning, confidence often follows.

Every child deserves the chance to shine

It's about discovering confidence, expressing yourself, trying something new and enjoying the freedom to move.

At BHVA, we believe every child deserves a place where they feel encouraged to explore, create and grow - whether they're taking their very first dance class or already love to perform.

That's why every Primary Dance session has been designed to develop far more than dance skills.

"Dance isn't about getting every step right."

Confidence through movement

Children develop confidence by exploring movement, trying new ideas and celebrating every small success.

Creativity without limits

Every session encourages imagination, individuality and creative thinking, helping children discover their own unique way of expressing themselves.

Friendships that grow naturally

Working together, encouraging one another and creating alongside others helps children build positive relationships in a welcoming environment.

A place to belong

Small groups mean every child is known, encouraged and given the opportunity to shine in their own way.

Ready to find your rhythm?

Every child deserves the opportunity to move, create and belong.

Whether your child is taking their very first dance class or already loves to dance, we'd love to welcome them to Primary Dance.

Frequently asked questions

Who is Primary Dance suitable for?

Primary Dance has been designed for Home Educated children aged 6-11 years. Whether your child already loves to dance or has never attended a dance class before, they'll be welcomed into a supportive environment where creativity, confidence and enjoyment come first. Our sessions are suitable for complete beginners as well as children with previous experience.

Does my child need any previous dance experience?

Not at all.

Primary Dance isn't about being the best dancer in the room. It's about exploring movement, creativity and self-expression in a way that feels enjoyable and encouraging. Every child joins us with different experience and confidence levels, and our sessions are designed so everyone can take part and progress at their own pace.

Is Primary Dance suitable for children with additional needs?

We welcome children with a wide range of strengths, interests and learning styles.

If there's anything you'd like us to know before your child attends, we'd love to hear from you. We'll always do our best to support your child and help them feel comfortable, confident and included.

How is this different from your after-school Dance Squad?

Our Home Education Primary Dance sessions follow the same creative philosophy as our Dance Squads but have been designed specifically for Home Educated children. With a longer daytime session, there's more time to explore creative ideas, develop choreography and enjoy movement without feeling rushed. It's the same welcoming BHVA approach, adapted to suit a Home Education community.

What styles of dance will they learn?

Each term explores a different creative theme, introducing children to a variety of dance styles, music and movement activities. Rather than following a set syllabus, we encourage children to explore different ways of moving, creating and expressing themselves through dance.

What should my child wear?

Children should come in comfortable clothing that allows them to move freely and confidently.

There is no dance uniform, and no specialist clothing is required. We want children to feel relaxed and ready to enjoy the session.

Do they need dance shoes?

No.

Children can take part in bare feet or trainers, depending on the activities planned for the session. there's no nee to purchase specialist dance footwear.

Will my child have the opportunity to perform?

Yes - but only if they'd like to.

Families will be invited to our optional Summer Showcase, giving children the opportunity to celebrate what they've been working on in a relaxed and supportive environment. Our four is on celebrating each child's progress rather than reading a polished performance.

Can we join during the term?

Yes, subject to availability.

If space are available, you're welcome otherwise join at any point during the term. we'll help your child settle into the group and quickly become part of the creative journey.

Still have a question?

Every child is different, and choosing the right activity is an important decision.

If you'd like to talk through whether Primary Dance is the right fit for your child, we'd be happy to help.
